'Liliana' was created for "The Experimental Witch" movie competition, hosted by Brazilian author, Paulo Coelho. The competitors were to choose a narrator from the book, "The Witch of Portobello", and create all scenes that the books main character, 'Athena' was in.
The narrator that we chose was Athena's birth mother who gave Athena up to an orphanage when she was a newborn. The scenes of Athena's birth, and scene's of dancing around the fire to honour Mother Earth were favourites to work on. The theme of this section of the book is finding comfort within yourself during times of nothingness, instead of always looking for the next thing to occupy time with.
The competition was open to the first 200 people who signed up for each narrator. The shortlist is composed of 3 films for each narrator. Our movie was 1 of the 3 on the shortlist. The final decision was made on August 24th and we were not chosen We have had the chance to view the film that won and feel that they made the right decision. We are honoured to have been shortlisted.
